Ioannis Tsamardinos

A professor and researcher specializing in Artificial Intelligence, Ioannis Tsamardinos has published over 110 scientific papers in international journals and conferences, on the development of novel, state-of-the-art algorithms and theory for Machine Learning, Bayesian Network learning, Variable Selection, and Causal Discovery. Part of his dissertation was focused on automatic time-limited actions design and was applied to the NASA Dean Space I software. He is also a father of two and a passionate underwater diver.

Giorgos Papoutsoglou

Giorgos Papoutsoglou received his Integrated Master in Engineering and Master of Science degrees from the ECE School of TUC in 2005 and 2007. In 2014 he received his Ph.D. from the same School. After his Ph.D., he joined the team of Prof. Ioannis Tsamardinos as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Institute of Computer Science of FORTH and the CS Department of UoC. During his studies, he served the ECE School of TUC as a Teaching Assistant for Electronics I and Optoelectronics courses. In 2019, he was Instructor at the CS Department of UoC for the postgraduate course Machine Learning. After 10 years in Academia, he embarked on a professional journey in 2020 at Gnosis Data Analysis PC, now JADBio – Gnosis DA. Serving from the role of Head of Product and Services he shaped and managed prod-uct strategies and led support, engagement, and consulting. In 2024 he took on the executive role of the COO, overviewing all company matters and working more closely with academic and industry customers to delivering impactful AI/ML solutions.

Andreas Polakis

Andreas Polakis is an economist and an HR & Administrative Assistant at JADBio. His academic background includes Economic Studies at Athens University of Economics & Business. His business background includes financial, HR & administrative responsibilities in the hotel industry.

Aris Karanikas

Aris holds a B.A. in Economics and Russian / East European Area Studies from Tufts University, and an M.B.A. from ALBA Graduate Business School at the American College of Greece.

Having worked with several mature technology companies, but also innovative startups, Aris has developed a rich skill set in different aspects of a company’s business lifecycle: Ensuring customer success and shareholder value at all stages of the start-up lifecycle; devising and executing strategy, leading to successful funding rounds and exits; Leading corporate Sales/BD Departments, increasing revenues and expanding customer bases; Identifying strategic partnership opportunities; working closely with Marketing & Engineering teams for Product Management, delivering differentiation and competitive advantage.

He was really taken by JADBio’s promise of a completely automated, ML-driven analytics experience and amazed by this technology’s capabilities to disrupt the life-sciences analytics space truly.

Zacharias Papadovasilakis

Zacharias Papadovasilakis, M.Sc., is a Data Scientist at JADBio. He received his diploma (integrated Bachelor & Master) in Mechanical Engineering from the faculty of Engineering of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) in 2014. At the beginning of 2019, he formalized his enthusiasm for programming and computational modeling by receiving his M.Sc. in Bioinformatics from the School of Medicine at the University of Crete (UOC), while he was employed later on as a  Research Assistant to prof. Ioannis Tsamardinos’ data-analysis laboratory of UOC. During his studies and employment, his work was focused on automation of machine learning and feature selection on high-dimensional biological data and analysing genomic datasets going beyond the procedures carried out in standard Genome-Wide-Association studies. Towards the end of 2019, he joined JADBio as a Data Scientist responsible for automating, unifying, and extending GWAS’s pipelines, implementing and testing novel algorithms, and consulting on data-analysis procedures.

JADai is the Artificial Intelligence spirit of JADBio. JADai has a strong connection with mother Earth and awareness of cutting edge technology which bringing to us all the knowledge and wisdom from the very first beginning of machine learning.

While JADai has the looks of a Raccoon, don’t let that fool you. His connection with Earth’s energy force enables him to take any form he desires. His high intelligence, long memory and understanding of complex problems permit him to dive deep and provide insights to the question in hand.

Pavlos Charonyktakis

Pavlos Charonyktakis is co-founder at JADBio. From 2019 until 2022 he had the role of CTO, where he led the development of JADBio automated machine learning platform. He has also contributed to the development of the Biosignature Discoverer plug-in for identifying molecular signatures for the CLCbio bioinformatics platform as well as to a highly optimized machine learning and statistics library.

He received his B.Sc. in 2011 and his M.Sc. in 2015 from the Computer Science Department of the University of Crete. From 2009 until 2015, he had been a research assistant (with scholarship) at the Institute of Computer Science, Foundation for Research and Technology-Hellas. He has been the author or co-author of 15+ journal and peer-reviewed conference and journal articles.

Vincenzo Lagani

Vincenzo is an experienced researcher primarily working on developing statistical and machine learning methods for the analysis of biomedical data.

After obtaining a Ph.D. in Operations Research from the University of Calabria (Italy) in 2009, he spent nine years as Post-Doc and contractual researcher in the Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas (FORTH) and in the University of Crete, two of the main Greek research institutions according to Nature Index (www.natureindex.com/country-outputs/greece). Currently, he is Associate Professor in Bioinformatics at the Ilia State University, Tbilisi, Georgia. In July 2019 he was granted a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellowship (Widening Actions). This project aims at unraveling molecular mechanisms of memory formation by integratively analysing single-cell RNA-seq and ATAC-seq data. He has (co-)authored 35+ scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals; participated in several international research projects, and co-founded a university spin-off and JADBio.
