Professor Ioannis Tsamardinos talked at aiTechPark, a medium that aims to bring businesses one step closer to understanding the confusing AI space and aid SMBs and large enterprises in aligning the right technology solutions to many of the workplace’s functional challenges. They discussed the journey from the laboratory to the market, and how difficult but also challenging it is, to turn years of research into a product; the different elements of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and biomedicine, and how innovative solutions and automation are essential and necessary for growth.

While constantly working on machine learning for bioinformatics as an academic, Dr. Tsamardinos realized that autoML is essential for data scientists and non experts alike, making both more efficient. After all data is only increasing exponentially. Driven by his desire to commercialize his idea and create a product that transformed research into applied technology, along with his team, they created JADBio AutoML. According to him, JADBio’s purpose-built AutoML platform could be a game-changer in the research of molecular biology. The platform provides leading-edge AI tools and automation capabilities enabling life-science professionals to build and deploy accurate and interpretable predictive models with speed and ease, even if they have no data science expertise.

When talking about the platform, Ioannis spoke about innovation and the numerous distinctive features of JADBio
-First of all, JADBio is fully automated. Anyone can use it and perform a sophisticated and correct machine learning analysis even if they do not know math, statistics, or coding. All they need is an Excel file with their data.
-Second, even though JADBio is a general AutoML tool, it is the only AutoML platform specifically designed for life science data and particularly molecular data.
-Third, JADBio doesn’t overestimate performance! You can trust the estimation of how predictive your model is.

Finally, Dr. Tsamardinos talked about how the company raised 2M in the very first year they launched, and about their first big client -a global oncology company with the world’s highest quality biobank. He closed his interview with a bit of advice for the upcoming AI-based Data Analytics’ start-ups.
